EDDIE 9V
BEG BORROW & STEAL
The inimitable Eddie 9v asked Chorus to help make a new video for the lead single of his sophomore record Capricorn. We jumped at it. For Beg Borrow and Steal, we concocted a devoted homage to German Television channel Das Erste’s music and variety program from the 1960s: Beat Club.

For the look and feel of the video, Director Troy Bieser went legit old school — DP Jordan Pilgrim even shot the whole thing in PAL. We keyed for blue with fabric. All of the zooms are in-camera. For the edit, Troy used delightfully obsolete effects and limited the final to only a few revisions — embracing the damn-the-torpedoes spirit of a live broadcast line-cut.
The spontaneity shows through, capturing the ramshackle rock n roll spirit of the band who in the video looks like a cross between a young Booker T and the MGs and The Velvet Underground with Nico. To say we had a gas making this, is a vast understatement.
Check out Eddie’s glowing review in Rolling Stone!
